AblePlanet nc1100b Review by Starneb

When I saw these headphones I was thinking "Is it worth it or not..." I try to see if there are any good reviews about these headphones, but there aren't that many. So I just went what the heck and bought them, and it was worth the $99 (doesn't have that sale anymore atm). It was worth the money, also with the warranty they have it is definitely worth that price. $300 dollars is too much, I would rather buy a QC 2 because it is a lot more better for 300 (Or something else for that price like a PS3 or Xbox, etc.), but the feature were close. My friend owns a QC2 and I tested them out. Unfortunately the QC2 does beat it, but the sound and NC (noise canceling) works well.

The sound is amazing however that is when it is on NC mode. When it is not on, its about so so, but I think the main reason for that is because you hear everything and the sound is combining with the outside noise (Guessing not accurate). NC works well, when I plug it into my iPod or my Computer, I could barely hear my voice when its on low volume, but when its on mid volume, I couldn't hear my voice at all and outside. (Got in trouble a little because they were calling my name)

Overall it was worth the price when I bought it these headphones are amazing imo, I would tell my friends to buy it, when it is on sale again.

(sorry for my bad English)

Btw, for those who can't get the battery case opened you slide it out (downwards) May require a little force. (I had this trouble as well)

AblePlanet nc1100b Review by Archer

The headphone are pretty amazing. I have doubted about the 5 star reviews as I read the remark that somebody might have got paid for writing the 5 star reviews. I am almost positive that they are fake. However, as the price dropped to $97.00, I decided to give it a try. I had some good experience with Linx Audio, so I knew I wouldn't be too disappointed. I have been using them for more than a week now, and I simply love them.

The built quality (5/5)
These headphones are built to last. Very high quality plastic. It reminds me of the high endurance outdoor carrying case for my SLR cameras. The cushions are very comfortable. It stays in place very well and looks good. As it is the highest end from Ableplanet, you can tell they are putting the best materials they could to make these headphones. Talking about the overall comfortableness to me, I wish they could have a larger ear cap. I do have a huge head and moderately large ears that L size cap could not fit my head. But if you have an average head size, I would say they would be very comfortable to wear.

The sound quality: with NC on (4.5/5) without NC on (3/5)
The sound is very impressive. Without active noise cancelling on, these headphones sound about average. I have to say the bass is over-emphasized and muddy. The highs and lows are simply not there. However, as the NC is on, these headphones are unbelievable. It can be totally compared with the sound quality of Bose QC15, sennheiser 380pro, and even byrdynamic DT770 pro. For this price ($97), I can't find anything could sounds this good and has noise cancelling. I have to say the bass is still artificially boosted, but it really doesn't affect the overall sound quality at all. There is a bit hiss noise generated in the sound field inside the headphone after turning on the NC, but the noise level is low and not quite noticeable. TO be honest, I am so surprised when I compared them side by side with Byrdynamics DT770pro. Seriously, they almost sounds as good as DT770pro. And if you are not having a well trained ears, you would be amazed by the sound quality!

Noise cancelling (3.5/5)
If I define the NC to be 5 stars for Nokia BH905i and Bose QC15, 3 for Panasonic RP-HC 720, these headphones would be 3.5 to 4 stars. The noise cancelling response is fast and very effective. Please be noticed that NC technology has its own flaws. TO completed generate the 180 degree phase shift sound wave to cause a complete destructive interference is just impossible, it also creates pressure at your eardrum. For high frequency and random and impulsive noise, you just can't expect active noise cancelling would do anything about it. As for these headphones, they do perform well on active noise cancelling. I tried them in my lab where more 30 fans are doing either the ventilation or heat deduction. These headphone significantly reduce the noise and with music on, the noise completely disappears. Pretty impressive for this price range. I have to say Bose QC15 is doing a better job, but for that price tag and build quality, I would never recommend it. On the other hand, Nokia BH905i has 8 microphones that shut down the noise so effectively, but the sounding is not great and it cost $100 more because it packs in extra features such as control talk and bluetooth.

Bottom line, these headphones are really great at the price tag ($97). It definitely does not worth the $299 in my opinion, but at $97, it is a steal. You will love it. Highly recommend it.

These headphones are amazing. I did alot of research on different brands and think I made the right choice. I've been nothing but pleased with the clarity of sound and the noise cancellation feature.
